While many people think sculpture is the realm of three-dimensional life, wrong! Here’s some fantastic pieces of digital sculpture!

Jeremy Devertuda’s piece “Conversion” is like a digital Pygmalion myth. The lines between a digital sculpture and illustration blur with his piece. Our subject reaches out, her hands turning to flesh.

Busts are an ancient art form, a way of carrying the likeness of an important person over a long distance. Antone Magdy’s piece “Cardinal Scipione” is a killer digital bust.

“Up where they walk, up where they run, wish I could eat all the folks in the sun. Up running free, wish I could eat, all of their world.”

This rendering of Mike from Monsters Inc. is pretty fantastic. The texturing on his skin especially is nearly like that of the movie. Pixar ought to call Leonardo up for Monsters Inc. 3: Electric Boogaloo

I haven’t read micronauts before, but this sculpture by Sam Greenwell makes me want to. (EDITOR’s note: Bug was pretty awesome on Dan Abnett’s Guardians of the Galaxy too, you should check that one out too!)

Dragons are some of the most often drawn creatures in art, but that doesn’t disqualify a great one from our lists. Ricardo’s dragon exhibits personality, wisdom, maybe even a little gentleness. Love it.
