Sometimes the inspiration comes from real life, and this is how you get Paladins, Rangers, Druids and so on and so forth. “Western fantasy” is inspired by Medieval and other eras of Western countries. From King Arthur all the way to Dungeons & Dragons, these armor designs, ideas, and concepts inspire artists to create characters, games, etc..
But what happens when the inspiration comes from “Eastern” cultures? The Chinese, Japanese and Indian cultures are rich beyond words when it comes to mythology. The East provides a plethora of fictional and historical characters that differ greatly from those coming out of the West.
The objective of this showcase is to demonstrate how artists all around the world are inspired by the “East” with design concepts ranging from Samurai all the way to mythological Chinese monsters.
